Star Writing!

First-class writing seen across the school!
Recently, the Federation of schools has completed a cross-phase writing task with the stimulus of a mysterious "Tunnel." Staff have studied examples from each year group and discussed the different key features that some children had included. Most of the writing showed children were really thinking about what they were creating, putting into practice what they had been taught in order to try to include the many elements that would make their writing stronger. There was a lovely use of wider vocabulary and there was a tidy flow to the sentences. Even more impressive was the fantastic early writing created by some of our Reception children. It was beautifully written, with capital letters and full stops, not to mention finger spaces and sound buttons underneath the various phonemes. Well done everyone and I am looking forward to seeing other quality work being created in the future.
It was lovely to see so many children getting rewarded for their writing, but also their reading in good work assembly today, where I assisted our two new Headteachers for the Day from the Junior school. I hope this effort continues next week.
Please can I also encourage all parents to check that toys from home are not being brought in by the children, because they are causing a distraction in class and an increase in poor behaviour. Children have access to sensory toys and fidgets in school, should they be required, so there is no need to bring any home items in. Items seen will be taken away and given to parents at the end of the day with a reminder to ensure children are not bringing personal toys in.
Next week, we will be taking the singers off to the Norfolk County Music Festival on Thursday 20th at King's Centre, in Norwich. We are hoping the combination of the two schools singing together will be another fantastic experience for all participating. On Friday, it is Comic Relief day, so we invite everyone to wear something red as part of their non-uniform.
Have a lovely weekend everyone!
