Decorations All Around
Decoration Day sees parents visit to begin the Christmas festivities!
Busy, busy, busy! This week has flown by and there just does not seem to be a spare minute in the day to catch one's breath, but I have really enjoyed seeing the children engage with the Christingle service in assembly with Reverend Jo this week. The children showed a strong understanding of the significance of the Christingle and sang beautifully when the moment was right. Thank you Reverend Jo for coming in and for all the Christingles for the children to take home. There was a rogue dolly mixture loose in the box, so I could not let that go to waste. Yum!
Parents visited on Wednesday afternoon for our annual Decoration Day and it is pleasing to see the children working collaboratively with their families. I have no doubt the relatives also enjoyed participating. We are only asking for £1 donation to purchase the decorations made and in doing so you are helping us recoup a small amount of the outlay for the resources we have already incurred.
I have really enjoyed seeing the Year 2 children writing with ink quills as part of the Great Fire of London learning. Here, they were pretending to be Samuel Pepys recording in their diaries about what their senses would have experienced during that historic time. Well done everyone, it was a pleasure to read what you were writing about, even if the ink did go everywhere.
Talking about writing, I have been mightily impressed by the early writing drive in Reception to get the children mark-making, holding their pencils correctly and forming letters appropriately. Watching them draw letters in the oats and sand was rewarding and then looking at the writing evidence wall really showed how keen this cohort are to write. Well done guys - keep it up!
Thank you for all the colourful donations for our PTFA Christmas raffle taking place in two weeks. All items were gratefully received by the PTFA.
Next week, we hope to see parents again for our Infant Curriculum Celebration event on Monday from 2:15pm, on Thursday we also have our Vision and Hearing checks for Reception class and on Friday we have our Family Carol Service at St. Margaret's Church from 6:00pm on Friday.
Have a great weekend everyone!
